Redeeming Time
What opportunity would you explore if you went back a decade or two? Are you aware that not every dream is lost if you find the courage to dream again? Do you realize every waking moment is a chance to get it done? What you need is time, and the time is now.
Time is such a simple yet complex concept. Depending on the perspective and context, time may be defined as a measurable period of event, a continuum between a start and an end, the journey between life and death; time is eternity. Therefore, it is unsurprising that our ages, development, achievements, growth, or losses are defined by time.
The measurable component of time creates a travesty of time gained and time loss, so much so that we associate leveraged opportunities with time gained and untapped opportunities as time lost. Because we cannot recover time gone, our brains equate the unrecoverable nature of time to unrecoverable opportunities. We do not realize the missed opportunities until it’s ‘late,’ and then our minds become gorged with guilt, remorse, and regret.
Someone once said that the grave has the highest number of untapped talents and unfulfilled dreams. If the saying is true, how do we not become part of the statistics? My spin on this is, ‘It is never too late to start until you are late.’ So, rather than becoming consumed with regret of lost opportunities and dreams, why not seize the moment and start?
There is a common saying that time is fleeting, but you can get started as long as you are still here. Each new day presents an opportunity to redeem lost or wasted time.
Remember that time is the in-between, the dash between when the sun rises and when it sets, between birth and death. It is our epitaph.
Thinking about the afterlife, I’m almost certain we will account for our time on earth. What will yours be?
*****The picture below was taken 18 years ago at a client’s office while working on a transformation project. I was younger, more vibrant, and full of dreams. Fast-forward to today; I have achieved some of those dreams, some are in progress, and others are in the pipeline. I aim to continue expanding and working on each vision until my time is up.
By the way, I am still young and have not stopped dreaming 😊
